Another week

Baby has started kicking like crazy when I lay down at night. Everyone told me it would happen, and so it has. I feel like there's a circus going on in there. I also experienced baby's hiccups for the first time. I knew it would feel weird... and it certainly does. I just think it's so strange that they get hiccups in the womb in the first place. But I feel like my stomach is spazzing out. So far, that's the only thing that's annoyed me... but it happened Sunday and Monday. Hopefully it won't get more frequent :)
One of the things I really wanted to do after the baby got here was get newborn pictures taken. I plan on getting pictures done at 6 months and a year minimum, but I know how quickly infants change and really wanted to document the baby within a couple weeks. So after some twisting of Chuck's arm, he agreed that we could pay a professional to come to the house for the newborn photos and then go to Sears or something more reasonable for all the photos after that. I am so excited! There were a few options here in town, but after some research I chose Amy Sandoval Photography. I'm not a huge fan of how her website is set up because you can't look at just the newborn photos, but click on portrait website and then scroll through her galleries and you can certainly tell which ones are the newborns.
She's going to come to our house within 10 days of the birth and do the photos here... she brings some props and such though. I thought that would be so much easier than getting baby out and going somewhere. I'm so excited- newborn photos are just adorable :)

Had my appointment today

And everything was good :) I've gained more weight than I had wanted to at this point, but I'm trying not to beat myself up over it. I go back in 4 weeks and then after that it'll be every 2 weeks until 35 weeks and then I'll go every week. At my next appointment I have my test to screen for gestational diabetes. Hopefully I don't have it! I have to drink this nasty orange stuff before I go- oh joy :)

Chuck and I ordered the baby's crib on Friday. I'm super excited about it.

It's the Babi Italia Eastside Classic in Cinnamon, which is a dark wood... but not super dark. It's very "classic" looking. Many cribs now have one side that's taller because eventually it can convert to a headboard, but I wasn't a huge fan of those and really liked this one. It's supposed to be here in 7-14 days, which is way earlier than I expected! It'll have to sit in a guest room for a while so we can get the room painted.
Luckily, that is all the furniture we have to buy. We already have a dresser that matches fairly well that was my grandfather's and we found a changing table at Goodwill for $35. I wanted a bookshelf, but I think the room is going to be too small, so we're going to hang shelves on the wall instead.

I also just ordered the bedding. I decided not to go with a set, because you can't let baby sleep with a quilt anyways and many people recommend against using bumpers because of the increased risk of SIDS. So why spend $400 (no lie... some of them are that much) on a set that includes those 2 things? Especially since it was really hard to find gender-neutral stuff that I really liked that wasn't exorbitant. So I just ordered a sheet and the skirt and I figure I'll get the rest of the sheets from Target or wherever. And if I want to get cutesy stuff after the baby comes, I can. It's very simple, but here's a link: http://www.landofnod.com/family.aspx?c=167&f=3916

I loved the whole set, but why pay the money if you can't use it? So yup, just the skirt and sheet. It's more than I wanted to pay, but it was SUPER hard to find things that were sold individually and I wasted probably 10 hours of my weekend looking at bedding and trying to find something that I liked. So I decided my sanity was worth the money. When they come in, I'll pick the paint colors. We're going to put up chair railing and the bottom half will be the teal-ish color on the skirt and the top will be a light brown/cream. Possibly a creamy yellow. Haven't completely decided. I will continue to update :)

I went to see the movie Leap Year yesterday with my friend Kaytlin and it was super-cute. Nothing earth shattering, but entertaining and surprisingly clean. A chick flick with no sex scenes... it's sad when that's surprising!

Well, I'm gonna go try to get some sleep. My OB okayed taking Benadryl every few days to help me sleep and I'm really hoping it helps. I have felt so exhausted lately because I just haven't been sleeping. I'm hoping tonight is different!

24 weeks photo

So this is 24 weeks, 3 days. Like I said, it just keeps growing. Although I think I've slowed down a little. Maybe?

Haven't been sleeping well lately. I fall asleep ok, but I wake up about 4 times a night to pee and it takes forever to get back to sleep because I'm just so uncomfortable. My pillows are taking up more and more of the bed. Poor Chuck :)

I've been walking the dogs every day, which has been nice. I hope the weather stays good so that I can continue to do that. For the longest time it was raining so much that I never got them outside. But they're both happier and better behaved when they get their exercise. I probably am too, haha.

Speaking of the dogs, Zoe is currently asleep on top of Belle's bed. She generally just lays in the corner on the floor, but I guess she wanted something more cushy? Either way, it's hilarious, so here's a photo:

That's about it for now. Love you guys :)

Baby's now the size of a papaya!

Don't ask me why, but baby websites like to compare the size of Baby to fruit. So apparently, Baby is the size of a papaya. Of course, another website said to picture an ear of corn. Is it just me, or do those things look different?

So here's some info I got for your reading enjoyment...

From BabyCenter.com: "Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon."

My next appointment with the OB is on Wednesday. Nothing big happening... I just pee in a cup (yay!), get weighed, and they'll listen to the baby's heartbeat. Right now, I'm still going every 4 weeks. At some point, I start going more frequently, but I honestly can't remember when. I ask every time we go, and then forget again. I figure they'll tell me when it's time!

In other news, we ordered some plastic sleeves for our DVDs. http://www.mmdesign.com/dvd-storage-sleeves.php#

Basically, all of our storage in the sun room is taken up by movies, so we're trying to take up less room with movies so that we can have room for babies stuff and it won't be all over the floor. However, putting all of our movies into these sleeves is taking a flippin long time! It will be worth it in the end, but right now it's kind of a pain. Part of the problem is that we have way too many movies. But I just can't stop buying them. It's a sickness.

Chuck's been working super-late lately. Well, not SUPER late, but late enough. I had gotten used to him getting off at 4:30 every day, but his job is budget-oriented so it's very seasonal and they have some big stuff due soon and he's been coming home around 8 most nights. So I find myself talking to the dogs more and more. You would think I would get MORE done around the house, but I actually get less done. If I'm the only one that has to stare at the mess, who cares? But I'm trying to NOT think like that. Counselor says it's not healthy, haha.

Alright, I'm boring myself.

A few photos...

I figured I would start with a few photos. Many of yall haven't seen me since I got pregnant, so I figured you might appreciate some photos.

These are at Disney World right after we found out that I was pregnant. I just posted those in case you guys had forgotten that I at one point had a flat belly :)

Now for the pregnancy photos...

Above photo was at 15 weeks. Honestly, I think I was mainly just bloated, but still.. there's a belly.

To the left was at 16 weeks, 5 days. Bloat was starting to subside and baby bump was coming in. This was the day I had to buy maternity clothes because all of a sudden nothing else would fit.

Below is 20 weeks and 2 days. Can you tell I'm not good at remembering to take them ON the week mark? Oh well. Anyways, please forgive the PJs, but that was the best view of the bump. The difference in 16 and 20 weeks amazes me.

To the left is 23 weeks, 2 days. It just keeps getting bigger...

And just because I can't resist... here are the dogs :)

So it begins...

When I first got pregnant, a friend said "start a blog!" I laughed at her.

My first trimester consisted of laying on the couch, running to the bathroom, puking and nausea. Why would anyone want to read about that?

Thankfully, the second trimester has been MUCH better and I find myself with some time to kill. Not sure how good I'll be at keeping this up AFTER Baby is here, but I'll do my best to update regularly until the baby gets here. I suppose it'll be nice to keep people informed ;)
